Saudi Arabia has officially confirmed the holiday dates for Eid Al-Adha 2024, with Arafat Day falling on Saturday, June 15, and the first day of Eid Al-Adha scheduled for Sunday, June 16. This announcement follows the sighting of the crescent moon on Thursday, as declared by the Saudi Supreme Court.

The commencement of the month of Dhu Al Hijjah is set for Friday, June 7, marking the beginning of this sacred period in the Islamic calendar.

Here are the confirmed holiday dates for Eid Al-Adha 2024 in Saudi Arabia:

  • Arafat Day: Dhu Al Hijjah 9, corresponding to Saturday, June 15
  • Eid Al Adha: Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12, corresponding to Sunday, June 16 to Wednesday, June 19

Eid Al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, holds immense religious significance for Muslims worldwide. During this period, special prayers, feasts, and acts of charity are commonly observed as part of the celebration.

The announcement of Eid holidays typically coincides with increased bookings in hotels and restaurants, as residents seek to enjoy the festive time off, while visitors from neighboring regions take advantage of the opportunity for a break.

Regarding the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there are still eight public holidays expected to occur throughout the remainder of 2024. These include Arafat Day on Sunday, June 16, followed by three consecutive days of Eid Al-Adha from Monday, June 17, to Wednesday, June 19, among others.
